In our last blog, we addressed two major myths that have misled commercial HVAC owners. We believe that knowledge is power, and we want to equip you to make the best decisions when it comes to your HVAC system.
MYTH: If it isn’t broken, it doesn’t need attention
Truth: An HVAC system is so essential to the comfort, health, and safety of everyone in the building.
Your HVAC system needs to be maintained so that it never breaks down – not fixed when it fails. A broken HVAC system means uncomfortable people and possible health hazards, especially if the building belongs to a hospital or data center.
Do not let problems get bigger – keep them small, and your stress will be small, too!
MYTH: Go with the the cheapest service
Truth: You get what you pay for.
Yes, uninsured and unlicensed companies will be cheaper, but what sort of service do you think you’ll get when you have an emergency? What about response times?
The key is to always check references and be clear about the services you need. At the end of the day, good equipment and knowledgeable staff will cost more, but in the long run, it will protect you from catastrophic, expensive repairs and the stress that comes with them.
MYTH: Service techs only change filters
Truth: HVAC systems are complex and each one is uniquely designed to serve its building.
Keeping your system up and running requires a lot of expertise and time. Remember that oftentimes, failure to maintain your equipment will negate its warranty. Do not let that happen!
