Valley Mechanical is San Jose’s premier commercial HVAC company. We are passionate about keeping you comfortable and saving you money with efficient systems. As we approach the end of summer, we approach the end of a season in which your HVAC system has been working hard. One of the places that people least-expect issues is with their thermostats. However, thermostats are precision-tuned units that can be knocked out of calibration pretty easily.

What can ‘break’ a thermostat?

  1. Bumping it.

    • This may seem too obvious, but if you have younger people in your home, your thermostats can be bumped easily. If you weren’t there to see it, you won’t know it happened. All you will know is that your thermostat is reading the right thing, but your HVAC system is running/not running when it should be. Call us right away so we can calibrate it.
  2. Frequent adjustments.

    • People are comfortable at such different temperatures! It is very common for a thermostat to see a lot of action in the more extreme seasons  of  summer or winter as people try to adjust the temperature to their own comfort level. If a thermostat is adjusted too many times at once, it can be damaged. Again, you will notice that your HVAC system is acting oddly while your thermostat says everything is fine.

If your thermostat gets knocked out calibration, it can cost you a lot of money. If you notice anything funny going on with your HVAC system give us a call! Our courteous and knowledgeable technicians are ready to help.
